A dental bridge is a permanent (non-removable) appliance and an outstanding manner to substitute lacking teeth.
There are a variety of sorts of bridges. You and your dentist will debate the appropriate alternatives for your specific situation. The "traditional bridge" is the most common form of bridge and is generally built of metal bonded porcelain. This sort of bridge comprises of two crowns that extend over two anchoring teeth (abutment teeth) and are connected to a pontics (synthetic teeth), completing the lack of one or more teeth.
Dental bridges are extremely lasting and will last for many years, however they may need to be replaced or re-cemented due to traditional wear and tear.
Main reasons for the need for a fixed bridge:
1. Filling a missing teeth space.
2. Keep the facial form.
3. Prevents the existing teeth from moving out of place.
4. Restore the capacity to chew and speak.
5. Restore the smile.
6. Upgrading from a removable partial denture to a continuous use dental appliance.
Getting a bridge generally takes two or more appointments. While the teeth are under anesthesia, the two anchoring teeth get ready by stripping a part of the enamel to allow for a crown. Next, a very precise impression (mold) is produced, which is sent to the dental laboratory where the bridge gets manufactured.
At the same time, a provisional bridge will be built and held for a few weeks until your next appointment.
At the second visit, your new bridge will be closely inspected, fine-tuned and cemented to ensure proper fit. Occasionally, your dentist can only briefly cement the bridge, enabling your teeth and tissue opportunity to get used to the permanent bridge. The permanent bridge will be totally cemented at a later stage.
At the end of the procedure, you will be given full care directions. Proper cleaning, flossing, and frequent dental appointments will help the longevity of your new, permanent bridge.
